A light and approachable Tennessee sourced whiskey that needs more time to develop.
As Log Hill Distillery puts it, they’re “bringing bourbon back to Gethsemane.” Wally Dant and cousins Lynne and Charles Dant have built Log Still Distillery on an old and neglected family distillery plot. This grants them the use of DSP-47-KY which was originally owned by F.M. Head/Parker, Orene & Co. Distillery according to Michael Veach. Log Still Distillery is a Kentucky operation, located east of New Haven, Kentucky, but currently bottles sourced Tennessee whiskey.
Rattle & Snap Tennessee Straight Whiskey opens with a light and pleasant aroma. Punctuated with a strong scent of Bazooka Bubble Gum helps bring back nostalgic memories. In tow are a light mix of apricot, peach, and vanilla. From there the whiskey moves to a mix of white grape and passion fruit with a herbal undertone. The finish is short and on the dry side. This whiskey's biggest flaw is that it's underdeveloped. The whiskey features some good flavors but they are on the weak side and struggle to counter the dryness of the finish. What it lacks in impactfulness, the whiskey makes up with approachability.
