Little Book Infinite Edition II successfully builds upon its previous release by expertly blending whiskeys from three generations of Noe master distillers, resulting in a rich, heavy, and surprisingly well-balanced high proof bourbon.

Little Book Infinite was inspired by the “infinity bottle” practice, where you continuously add whiskey from other bottles, creating a unique and ever-evolving blend. For Little Book, the bourbon consists of whiskeys distilled by three generations of Noe family master distillers: Booker Noe, Fred Noe, and Freddie Noe. Each Little Book Infinite Edition holds back a portion of its blend to be used as the base bourbon of the next edition’s blend to build off of.

Edition 1 featured a very grounded flavor profile, which was exactly what was needed if it was the blend that was to kick off subsequent editions. Edition II is able to take what was established and run with it, resulting in a bourbon that tastes rich and heavy, but also surprisingly well balanced.

This time out, the additions include a 22 year old bourbon distilled by Booker, a 10 year old from Fred, and a 7 year old from Freddie. Given the age range included, on paper it looks like Freddie was striving for a yin and yang level of balance. Its ultra high-aged component definitely gives the bourbon a level of maturity and heavy oak presence, but only briefly offers the traditional aged Beam flavor notes that dominate high aged Knob Creek and Hardin’s Creek releases. The use of the 7 and 10 year old bourbons definitely have an effect taming the usual Beam nuttiness, which is present, but tempered.

It’s the bourbon’s overall balance that is the star here. It is once again a hot drinker and oak is ever present, but it is well integrated against a range of stone fruits and warming spice. It’s rich, with moments of punchiness, but surprisingly consistent in terms of how its flavors come off. Though not overly complex with a wide breadth of flavors, the depth of its flavors present are well defined, and its spice and oak tannins are warm and inviting.

Little Book Infinite Edition II successfully builds off the edition before it. While that is by design, it's also easier said than done. With the new additions to its blend being both young and old, they don’t notably stick out as such. Edition II is a thoroughly enjoyable sipping bourbon where the disparate ages of its blended components come together seamlessly.
