A bold tasting rye with rye and baking spice to spare.
Following in the footsteps of their first rye release, their second release, dubbed Batch 7CC, once again is a blend that includes both high and low rye mashbills. The result is every bit as lively as before. Where their first release featured a third component with an additional 95/5 mashbill, Batch 7CC omitted it, which might have been a move to bring a better balance to the blend. While that is partially true, Batch 7CC is still very spice forward and at times is still quite bold.
The nose provides a nice array of baking spices combined with traditional rye notes of green apple and mint. There is a fullness to the aroma packing potency. The palate omits fruity notes of any kind for a return to toasted oak, mint, green peppercorn, along with a nice tea undercurrent. The finish is rye spice forward and isn’t shy about it, delivering ample cinnamon notes which linger long after the sip. Rye typically follows either a fruit-forward path or a spice-filled one. Pursuit United Batch 7CC takes the latter. If you love a potent rye with bold spice, Batch 7CC hits that mark.
