Made of a blend of Texas and Kentucky bourbons, Milam & Greene Provisions is an easy sipping whiskey that carries a very consumer friendly price tag.

Milam & Greene is located in the Texas Hill Country and distills both on a potstill at their distillery and contract distills at Bardstown Bourbon Company in Kentucky. The company states that the first edition of Provisions was created “with the modern consumer at the center; something versatile, approachable, and elegant in the glass.” Provisions was created through a process that the company calls “Texification,” which involves barrels being brought down from Kentucky to Texas, where they are exposed to additional aging in Texas, an aging environment that differs drastically from Kentucky.

As can be expected from an 80 proof bourbon, Provisions Bourbon’s flavor profile is on the lighter and thinner side, yet it still manages to deliver an OK pour. It starts with traditional light scents of vanilla, oak, and caramel, along with pleasing peach bread, which helps add variety. The mouthfeel is thin, delivering classic bourbon notes that lean towards the sweeter side thanks to brown sugar and vanilla. Ending with notes of light spice and oak, the sip wraps up without fanfare. While Milam & Greene Provisions doesn’t break any new territory, coming in at only $35, it delivers an easily approachable sip that is great for those who appreciate a lower proof whiskey.
