Wheel Horse Bourbon Cigar Blend is an annual release by Latitude Beverage Co. Utilizing 5 year old sourced bourbon, the company finishes their blend in port, Cognac, sherry, and Armagnac casks for 6-8 months. While the company’s Cigar Blend 2024 edition saw Cognac added as a new finishing barrel, the 2025 edition holds the finishing formula the same, instead adding an additional year of aging and increasing the price by a single dollar. 

The nose is incredibly inviting, offering up a pleasing aroma thanks to its sweet fruit scents. The midpoint highlights sweet mixed berries at first before more spice and oak notes start to push them out of the way. These continue to the finish, as all signs of sweetness disappear. Instead, the finish focuses on notes of dry oak, leather, and bold rye spice, and ends on an incredibly dry note.

There is no official TTB classification of what a cigar bourbon should taste like. Because of that, each company that releases a product in this unofficial category gets to lean on their own interpretation of what a bourbon of this type should taste like. For Latitude Beverage, this means a focus on sweet upfront with increasing dryness, to a fault, in the end for this year’s release. That said, this is also one of the most inexpensive cigar blend bourbons on the market, and Latitude Beverage should be given credit for providing consumers an affordable option in this category.
