Similar to past years, the 2026 O.H. Ingram River Aged Flagship Bourbon holds true to a solid classic Kentucky bourbon flavor profile despite a change to wheat in its mashbill.
O.H. Ingram differentiates itself by how it ages its whiskey. The company ages its whiskey inside a floating former grain barge, converted into a 2-story rickhouse, moored on the riverbank in Ballard County, Kentucky. The company states that O.H. Ingram River Aged “is the only whiskey in the world that spends its entire life on the Mississippi River – years of exposure to the microclimate and humidity of the river, along with its constant motion, creates complexity through a unique interaction between whiskey and oak.”
The most notable change for 2026 O.H. Ingram River Aged Flagship Bourbon from recent past years is the mashbill, which trades rye for wheat as the second grain. The age is also (presumably) increased from past years, as the 2025 version did not carry an age statement, and the 2024 version clocked in at 6 years and 6 months. While this year's distilling source isn't disclosed, past releases have been sourced from Green River Distilling, and since the mashbill matches one from Green River Distilling, that is the most likely source.
According to the company, the 2026 Flagship release is a 25-barrel batch, with 21 of the barrels aged on the lower deck and four on the upper deck. The result is a solid, classic-tasting Kentucky bourbon that’s mostly grounded in wood, baking spices, and oak notes. It does offer a nice mix of integrated accenting flavors, including orchard fruits and pear on the nose, sandalwood and raspberry on the palate, and brown sugar on the finish. A slight mineral scent is fleeting on the nose, though subtle. Overall, like past years, O.H. Ingram River Aged Flagship Bourbon is a very consistent bourbon, despite the change in mashbill, as it ultimately holds true to a classic Kentucky bourbon flavor profile.
