A sweet, approachable bourbon that focuses on drinkability over complexity for a good price.
A.M. Scott Distillery was founded in 2022 and is located in Troy, Ohio. In addition to whiskey, the company produces vodka and gin. The company prides itself in producing spirits that are approachable, affordable, and accessible. Their A.M. Scott Small Batch Bourbon is exactly that. It’s a sweet, highly drinkable whiskey. It starts with brown sugar and caramel on the nose which form the core elements, permeating throughout the whiskey. They’re joined by vanilla custard and a hint of baking spices. Ripe fruit, citrus zest, and light spice mingle with brown sugar and caramel at the midpoint, and it ends with a pop of cinnamon at the start of the relatively short but pleasant finish.
While not officially disclosed, this is most likely sourced from MGP. Overall, it’s a very approachable bourbon. It’s void of any off-putting flavors, instead focusing on pure drinkability. To that end however, it’s not a particularly complex bourbon so keep your expectations in check. At $40 it’s a solid option if you’re looking for a sweet easy-drinker. The company also offers a 117 proof cask strength option if you're looking for a little more oomph.
