A.M. Scott Distillery was founded in 2022 and is located in Troy, Ohio. In addition to whiskey, the company produces vodka and gin. The company prides itself in producing spirits that are approachable, affordable, and accessible.
A.M. Scott Barrel Proof Bourbon is a barrel proof version of the company’s standard 92 proof 4 year old bourbon. It nails its classic bourbon notes of vanilla, caramel, and oak, with fleeting moments of curiosity thanks to a range of baking spices and chai tea on the nose, and burnt caramel and roasted grain on the palate. The finish plays it largely safe, with a mix of sweet and spice. Besides its notes of roasted grain, it tastes older than its age leads you to believe, though it lacks ample complexity. It’s serviceable at its $55 price point, however, it teeters on that thin line of being overpriced. Sporting a dark color and flavorful sip thanks to its 117 proof, many will enjoy their time with A.M. Scott Barrel Proof Bourbon but will be left wanting more.
