For their Wheated Bottled in Bond Release, West Fork Whiskey delivers a straightforward and to-the-point sip.
West Fork Whiskey Co. was established in 2014 in Indianapolis, Indiana, by three Indiana natives, brothers Blake Jones and Julian Jones, and childhood best friend David McIntyre. The company produces a number of bourbon and ryes under the West Fork Whiskey Co. name, along with the Old Hamer line of bourbon, which carries a 99% corn and 1% malted barley mashbill.
West Fork Whiskey Co. Wheated Bottled in Bond Bourbon embraces its namesake wheat component and opens with a light and balanced aroma that focuses on a mix of kitchen and wood scents. Baked bread intermingles with fresh cut wood, while cinnamon frosting and sandalwood scents add further definition. This theme carries over to the palate, where fresh oak and baking spices intermix with a noticeable rye spice note that dances around vanilla cream. The finish wraps up the sip in a straightforward and quick way, with traditional scents of rye spice, toasted oak, and vanilla rounding things out. The midpoint of the sip adds a pop of intrigue thanks to the interaction between the vanilla cream and rye spice notes, but overall it’s an unabashed to-the-point sip.
The bourbon in review comes from barrel number BIBWB001.
