Ginger forward from start to finish, Standard Proof Whiskey Co.’s Ginger Rye is for ginger lovers, plain and simple.
Standard Proof Whiskey Co.’s infusion series offers a wide range of flavor infusions, from wildflower and pineapple, to mint, coffee, and pecan. Each is built off a rye whiskey base, infused for approximately 10-16 weeks (depending on the infusion), and each is bottled at 80 proof. And no, this isn’t part of a Garrison Keillor Lake Wobegon bit.
If you’re not a fan of ginger, this infused whiskey is obviously not for you. It’s ginger heavy through and through, and pulling other flavors out is a bit of a challenge. It’s like drinking Gin Gins Original Ginger Chews candy, melding ginger on a sweet base but with a punch of alcohol. It’s refreshing in that sense, like an aperitif. And if it’s too much neat, which for anyone who doesn’t really enjoy ginger it will be, it would certainly work well in ginger based cocktails.
