Lost Lantern is located in Vergennes, Vermont. Founded by Nora Ganley-Roper and Adam Polonsi, the company is an independent bottler who seeks out unique whiskeys from across the country. Often bottled as single casks, the company has now released whiskey from more than 30 distilleries in over 20 states.
Lost Lantern’s 2024 Summer of Bourbon collection includes 9 whiskeys originating from 12 different states. Lost Lantern Single Cask #13: Boulder Spirits Armagnac Finished Straight Bourbon is Lost Lantern’s first finished bourbon release. According to the company, it comes from longtime partner Boulder Spirits, which has brought Scottish whiskey making traditions to the world of bourbon and the unique climate of the Colorado Rockies. It was made from Boulder’s distinctive high-malt mashbill, and was aged for 4.5 years in new oak and finished for an additional 2.5 years in an Armagnac cask.
The whiskey is packed with dense flavors, which can be attributed to its high proof and lengthy time spent finishing in an Armagnac barrel. Bright citrus notes weave their way throughout this whiskey, but are grounded by more traditional flavors of oak, leather, and various spices. As a result, it makes for a unique and memorable sip that’s structured to draw in traditionalists but also just far enough off the standard bourbon flavor profile band to command your attention. For those who enjoy high proof bourbon with a citrus note, this release is well worth picking up.
Lost Lantern Single Cask #13: Boulder Spirits Armagnac Finished Straight Bourbon is a 300 bottle release.
