A blend of two Kentucky ryes and one bourbon, High ‘N Wicked Warlander is an easy sipping whiskey that will appeal to those who typically prefer a rye.
High N’ Wicked describes itself as “an importer and specialty bottler of exceptional whiskies.” The company was founded by L. Lyons Brown, III and Kevin E. Sachs in 2019, both of whom were former Brown-Forman senior executives. Altamar Brands began offering High N’ Wicked Cask Strength Bourbon in 2023, expanding to High ‘N Wicked Cask Strength Rye in 2024, and now cask strength whiskey in 2025.
The sip starts with a noticeable influence of the whiskey’s predominant rye grain. An aroma that concentrates scents of spearmint, mint leaf, and cinnamon stick pushed through to a palate that pulls in more of the bourbon influence, thanks to a creamy vanilla note. However, its time in the spotlight is short-lived as a dominant rye spice takes over along with white peppercorn and a light mix of dried fruit. Ending on rye spice, cinnamon stick, and dried apple, the whiskey once again leans more into its rye underpinnings. Overall this is an easy sipping whiskey that allows its rye mashbill components to dominate, and will appeal to those who normally prefer a spicier pour.
