Barrell Bourbon batches continue to layer in a wide range of distillery sources and ages with their latest batch. According to the company, “the [Batch 031] blend was built around the sweetness in a group of 99% corn bourbon barrels and a group of wheated bourbon barrels. To bridge these two groupings, we layered in 15 and 16 year old barrels for their gentle nuttiness and oak. Finally, a selection of 10 year old barrels was added to bring notes of milk chocolate and tropical fruit.”
As more and more Barrell Bourbon batches get released to market, the unique characteristics of each becomes increasingly more nuanced. The base of 99% corn barrels and introduction of wheated bourbon barrels, combined with the inclusion of additional flavoring barrels, demonstrates the company’s deliberate blending technique to bring forward a unique end result. Batch 031 highlight's Barrell Craft Spirits' blending capability, with distinct flavors of tropical fruits, cocoa, and light oak. The intensity of the tropical fruit focus deviates from many of the previous batches, providing a more prominent distinction from the flavor profile of previous batches. Batch 031 is a fantastic, interesting combination of flavors that's delivered with great balance.
