The final release in the Fusion Series, Bardstown Bourbon Company Fusion Series #9 is a nicely integrated bourbon that leaves you wishing it had just a bit more oomph to it.
Hot on the heels of Bardstown Bourbon Company Fusion Series #8 release, comes their Fusion Series #9 release which is the last release in the series. According to Bardstown Bourbon Company, “The Fusion Series celebrates the blending of newer and older bourbons to create something unique. The younger spirits are 100% our own product mellowed with hand-selected, supremely aged bourbon that beautifully complements our specific recipes. As we grow, our bourbon ages — a difference you can taste with each Fusion release.”
Fusion Series #9 is a nicely blended bourbon that just seems to be lacking some oomph. It opens with a nose full of rye spice and bakery scents. The palate and finish are nicely balanced showcasing more traditional bourbon flavors, however, they’re subtle, especially when it comes to the finish. Fusion Series #9’s highlight is how well it is integrated and Bardstown seems to be honing their skills more and more with each subsequent release.. In the end, it’s an above average bourbon from Bardstown Bourbon Company that reminds you that even when lacking oomph, they’re still a respected leader when it comes to blending.
