A Maryland style rye whiskey that pays homage to our nation’s history, this DC distilled rye whiskey is vibrant with notes of youthfulness throughout.
Reboot Beverages, LLC is based out of Washington, DC and is “focused on bringing back historic liquor brands along with the history that surrounds them.” Mt. Pleasant Club Whiskey is their first brand, but according to the company will not be their last. This particular rye whiskey pays homage to Kilbourne Place, a street in Washington, DC.
The whiskey is a Maryland style rye whiskey, which is a characteristically sweeter rye that tended to be closer to the legal minimum of 51% rye and as a result, used more corn in the mashbill. This rye is vibrant from start to finish, with notes of fresh malt, baking bread, and ripe summer fruit throughout. Also up front and spread throughout the sip are hints of youth, and while not detrimental, is surprising for a rye with a 5 year age statement. The overall combination is still enjoyable yet flawed, which suggests the whiskey has a lot of room to grow.
The bottle in review is from the second bottling, and is bottle number 917.
