Lucky Seven has been flying under the radar for most, but those in the know, have been reaping all of the spoils. The movie-themed brand has been releasing a number of great releases, all ranging in age, but it's their high aged bourbons that truly shine the most. Their previous The Proprietor releases were a 6 year old, and a 12 year old Kentucky bourbon and in late 2021, upped it with a 14 year release.
As I said in my 12 year review, whoever Lucky Seven Spirits is sourcing their whiskey from, they better keep it a secret and buy as much of it as they can. A classic style bourbon at heart that features dark and rich flavors, backed with rich sweet oak that offers the perfect amount of age with it. Where the 12 year was more fruit forward, the 14 year ups the proof to a whopping 134.14, enhances its aged oak component, and adds a layer of spice throughout. But it's the bourbon’s age that is weaved throughout the entire sip that is the star. Complex and layed, the bourbon reminds you how great aged bourbon can be when done right. It’s excellent in every aspect, and I wish I had more.
