Quickly making a name for themselves, Frey Ranch Distillery located in northern Nevada, is notable for their grain to bottle operation. While not a new concept, a true estate distillery where the end product lives up to the concept and the hard work that goes into it is always a major accomplishment when it's successfully pulled off.
This fifth generation family’s bourbon stands out not because it's shockingly unique, but for the subtle earthiness it brings to its sip. It’s a very grounded bourbon that doesn’t wow you with a lot of flashiness, but a buttery balance of sweet and savory. We found a lot to love with their 4 year old straight bourbon and this 5 year version is showing exactly the promise its younger shelf hinted at. With extra depth, complexity and earthiness, Frey Ranch is showing that their whiskey is aging up well. Simply, there’s no convincing needed to be made, it tastes great from the first sip. There’s an originality on display here that few craft bourbons can replicate or even encapsulate. Simply, the bourbon speaks for itself. Lost Lantern hit another home run by highlighting this rising distillery.
