Celebrating its 6th anniversary, Ironton Bottled in Bond American Single Malt is a light, easy sipper that is a good introduction to the American single malt category for consumers.
Ironton is a woman-owned and managed distillery that was founded in 2018 in Denver’s River North Art District. The company will be moving to a new state-of-the-art distillery and tasting room experience in nearby Louisville, Colorado in 2025. Ironton Bottled in Bond American Single Malt was created to celebrate the company’s 6th anniversary and is composed of two barrels that were barreled in May 2020 and bottled in June 2024.
Fans of American single malts will find an easy-to-sip whiskey with Ironton Bottled in Bond American Single Malt. The whiskey opens with standard light scents of hay, honey, butterscotch, and fresh grain. A syrup and honey combination at the midpoint forms the base of a silky mouthfeel, which also highlights white peppercorn and faint malted barley. The finish is on the shorter side, consisting of a quick hit of sweet brown sugar, followed by a dry oak and grain note, which transitions into a white peppercorn spice. Overall, for what this single malt lacks in depth, it makes up for with its drinkability and is a nice light sip to introduce consumers to the American single malt category.
