The premier variation in the Dovetail family, BCS Gold Label Dovetail delivers an incredible whiskey at an ultra-premium price point.
With the great showings from the standard Dovetail ($80) and BCS Gray Label Dovetail ($250), the question regarding the Gold release was, “Just how could they improve upon those?” According to the company’s website, BCS Gold Label Dovetail is created with the same finishing and blending method as the standard Dovetail, and incorporates whiskeys aged up to 25 years. The component whiskeys were left in their finishing casks longer, and some very high proof barrels were included in the blend.
True to intent within Barrell Craft Spirits’ good-better-best model, BCS Gold Label Dovetail ups the ante once again in overall quality. Clocking in at a whopping 140+ proof point, the increase in proof is laser-focused on bringing with it a more richly concentrated flavor profile. Classically sweet with complementary spice and barrel notes, Gold Label Dovetail is an exceptional whiskey that delivers in the right ways. Unique tasting, incredibly drinkable, and creatively complex, it’s a whiskey you’ll want to savor but will have to be mindful not to quickly devour due to its high price point. While it does come in at such a high price point, it will come down to whether any whiskey is worth that kind of money for the particular consumer. But in the end, it’s a top-of-the-market priced whiskey that delivers an equivalently top-of-the-market drinking experience.
