Breaking Bourbon Award Winning Single Barrel Club picks are selected by Breaking Bourbon, and whenever possible with the help of Patreon supporters. The bottles are made available to Patreon supporters first by pledge tier. If any bottles remain after all supporters have had an opportunity to purchase, they are made available to the public on a first come, first served basis. Each barrel is sponsored by a retailer partner, who sells the bottles directly to end purchasers.

Like our Pinhook Rye Vertical Series club picks, we’re lucky enough to be one of only a handful of groups who will be able to follow this series from start to finish by picking a new barrel in the series over 8 years. The series is now in its 6th year and clocks in at 10 years old.
The Pinhook Vertical Bourbon Series started with a 5 year old lot of MGP-sourced barrels. There’s a batch release each year, which is released across the country, along with a few single barrel releases. Over time Pinhook has continued to cherry pick single barrels from the lot to be bottled as-is, which are the barrels we choose from for these picks. MGP distills a lot of bourbon, serving as a source from many brands, so being filtered through both Pinhook’s lot and then us is a means there is a lot of filtering to get to the barrels in this single barrel series.
This bourbon impressed us with its elegance. Its foundation is built on some of bourbon’s core flavors - caramel, vanilla, oak - and then it adds graham cracker, vanilla custard, and brown sugar. Further accents of leather, brown sugar, and baking spices bring depth, delivered by the bourbon’s creamy mouthfeel. It focuses on a more traditional bourbon flavor profile which is delivered in a rich, elegant form.

This pick continues the “Blaze” sticker series, which will form a panoramic image of horses over the course of the series when all stickers are combined. Our retailer partner will include a sticker loosely packaged with each bottle.
