Pinhook Bourbon War 6 Year represents the third release in a 9 year vertical series. The series started with Bourbon War 4 Year and will end in 2027 when the bourbon is 12 years old. Like last year’s Bourbon War 5 Year, Bourbon War 6 Year continues the trend of increasing the proof, delivering a series high 107 proof. The result is an interesting sip that sees the series progressing nicely. While the nose opens to an overall underwhelming combination of light scents, the rest of the sip thankfully makes up for it. The palate is full of creamy sweet flavors that weave nicely with a vein of spice. The finish ends on a nice pop of spice and drier notes that turn into a long slowly building heat that ultimately engulfs your mouth. This series is showing good potential, and with 6 years remaining, there’s still plenty of time to hop in on this exciting vertical experiment.
