Nashville Barrel Company sources their whiskey from a certain Indiana distillery, so it can be easy to quickly dismiss them. But like many smaller distilleries sourcing their product, they try to add their own fingerprint to it. In the case of their bourbon, they bought the barrels at a young age and aged them in their own facilities in Nashville, Tennessee.
Now I might not expect major changes to the end product given that it's a five year old bourbon aged about 300 miles from where it usually does, but results speak for themselves. The palate hits perfectly thanks to a wonderful pairing of complementary flavors, with a finish that accents it with an injection of heat.
For now, Nashville Barrel Company’s bourbon is relegated to single barrel offerings at select retailers. Being a single barrel, variations will occur, but as our first taste of their bourbon, I’m really interested in seeing if their aging continues to have a positive effect on their bourbon because this single barrel was a knockout.
Note that Nashville Barrel Company printed our logo on the sample bottle provided to us. Breaking Bourbon did not purchase or pick this barrel for review.
