Jack Daniel’s dials it in with their latest batch of 10 Year Tennessee Whiskey.
Introduced in 2021, this is the third batch of Jack Daniel’s 10 Year, which has historically seen one release per year since its inception. 10 Year is an older, higher proof version of standard Jack Daniel’s Old No. 7, however it is released in much lower quantities by comparison. It’s released alongside a 12 year version, which is bottled 10 points higher at 107 proof.
The first thing you’ll notice about Jack Daniel’s 10 Year is how oak-forward it is throughout. While it doesn’t shed the typical Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey flavor profile completely, it enhances it with age to such a degree that it becomes a different whiskey entirely. Aged oak funk is at the forefront, persisting throughout the sip into the finish. Leather, allspice, and tobacco underscore the funky oak baseline, while brown sugar, caramel, maple syrup, waffle cone, dark fruit, and allspice add lively accents. The sip finds perfect balance on the palate, drawing out flavor with zero burn, allowing you to roll it around in your mouth with ease. Lacking a typical crescendo of spice, it ends on dissipating aged oak from the palate along with some flavors providing additional depth as it transitions to a lingering sweetness. This is high aged, high quality Jack Daniel’s at a price that makes it impossible to pass up.
