Press Release

SAN FRANCISCO, September 26, 2024: Today, legendary bourbon brand HIRSCH Selected Whiskeys and brand owner, Hotaling & Co., introduce two new, limited expressions, the third edition of The Single Barrel Double Oak (750ml; $135 SRP) and the fourth edition The Single Barrel Silver (750ml; $90 SRP). This small batch of single barrels is a testament to the award-winning portfolio of adventurous spirits unbound by heritage or mash bill. These expressions are Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskeys aged in Bardstown, Kentucky. Only 21 barrels of The Double Oak Single Barrel and 42 barrels of The Single Barrel Silver will be released.

HIRSCH The Single Barrel Double Oak has two different age statements to choose from a 10-year-old and a 9 year 8 month old. Both aged whiskies are comprised of 72% corn, 13% rye, and 15% malted barley with a proof range of 110-115 and aged for eight years in 12-month air-dried, new, American oak barrels with a char #3. Nineteen of the barrels are finished for two years in new custom American Oak barrels with a char #1 made from the highest quality oak.  The remaining two barrels are aged one year and eight months in the same new custom American Oak barrels with a char #1. To allow for a softer secondary aging process, the proof was lowered before going into the second barrel. This second barrel gives a toasted caramel layer to the bourbon that is unlike any double oaked product on the market.

  • Aroma: Maple-vanilla sweet with layers of caramel, fig, tobacco, all held together by a soft oak presence
  • Palate: Leather, baking spice, vanilla, caramel

HIRSCH The Single Barrel Silver has two different mash bills to choose from, aged in 12-month air-dried, new, American oak barrels with a proof range of 105-126

  • Mash bill 1: 72% corn, 13% rye, and 15% malted barley; aged 6 years and 4 months some text
    • Aroma: Caramel, toffee, allspice, oak
    • Palate: Honey, hot cinnamon, corn sweetness, soft finish that stays with you
  • Mash bill 2: 78% corn, 10% rye, and 12% malted barley; aged 6 years and 8 monthssome text
    • Aroma: Buttered cornbread, maple, burnt oak
