Press Release

SHOREHAM, VT (Jan. 29, 2025) — WhistlePig Whiskey, the leading independent craft whiskey maker, is taking on big bourbon in its own backyard. Ten years after sparking the Rye revolution with its launch of WhistlePig Small Batch Rye - Aged 10 Years, WhistlePig is now the fastest-growing super-premium Bourbon and will go whole hog on Bourbon this year with the introduction of WhistlePig Snout-to-Tail Bourbon - Aged 10 Years. The ‘perfect 10’ partner to Small Batch Rye, WhistlePig’s Snout-to-Tail Bourbon turns tradition upside down with a boldly innovative craft process and the opening of a disruptive brand outpost in spring 2025: The WhistlePig PiggyBank in Louisville, Ky.

A decade’s worth of complex flavors are doubled down upon and turned up during WhistlePig’s Snout-to-Tail maturation process. Each finishing barrel features two distinctly toasted barrel heads - a Vermont oak medium toast at “the snout” end and a Vermont oak smoked maple wood toast at “the tail.” The only Bourbon aged Snout-to-Tail, WhistlePig flips its barrels 180 degrees in the warehouse to capture each barrel head’s unique toasted flavors and bring out the big, bold character in this palate-pleasing Straight Bourbon Whiskey. WhistlePig Snout-to-Tail Bourbon is bottled at 88 Proof, a wink to the 880 miles between the WhistlePig Vermont Farm and its new Kentucky outpost.

"After years pushing the boundaries of Rye whiskey, we have a point of view on age and experimental finishing that brings something new to Bourbon,” said Meghan Ireland, WhistlePig’s Head Blender. “The equal and opposite of our flagship 10 year Rye, Snout-to-Tail Bourbon takes toasted barrel aging to ten with bold flavors and new complexity earned before and after the barrel flip. With honey, brown sugar and toasted cashew on the ‘snout’, roasted almonds and baked cornbread on the sip, and a fresh crust and cedar ‘tail’, it’s a Straight Bourbon Whiskey born to crash the party in Kentucky.”

WhistlePig is knocking down the door of the American Whiskey heartland, taking Big Pig Energy from its remote home in rural Vermont to The WhistlePig PiggyBank brand outpost this spring. The WhistlePig PiggyBank transforms the historic bank building and infamous Bank Shot Billiards space with interactive snout-to-tail experiences,  exclusive tastings, a big pig bar and other ham hijinx. The prime cut of the experience is the century bank Vault, reinvented to house WhistlePig’s most rare and collectible whiskeys. This fearless foray onto Bourbon’s home turf is a testament to WhistlePig’s whole-hogged commitment to crafting whiskeys that are bigger, bolder and better than generations past.

WhistlePig Snout-to-Tail Bourbon - Aged 10 Years will be available for sale online on WhistlePig’s website and at liquor stores, bars and restaurants nationwide on January 29, 2025, for $89.99 MSRP per 750mL bottle. The WhistlePig PiggyBank is slated to open this spring at 403 E. Market St., Louisville, Ky.
