With the 87th anniversary of National Repeal Day on Dec. 5, the drinks industry is throwing its support behind the inaugural Repeal Day Expo, a virtual event in which your avatar gets to meet, mingle and engage in all-things distilled.

What: The Repeal Day Expo is a day-long convention that showcases more than 40 liquor brands, top-tier musical talent and well-known drinks personalities.

Expo attendees will create their own avatar and engage in live conversations, expert panel discussions, private bourbon, mezcal, tequila, gin, beer and other tastings, and see musical performances on stage. With your own avatar, you’re essentially playing a video game, yet engaging with people and drinking whiskey inside your very own virtual world. Much like old-home week, Repeal Day Expo offers a chance to see famous entertainers perform while you get to hobnob with master distillers and premier bourbon experts.

Who:

• Canadian country music star Lindsay Ell and Blues sensation Shawn James headline the show. Jack Daniel’s is bringing country music sensation Eric Church as its plus one. Church will be discuss his collaboration with the brand. Brown-Forman will make its presence known by showcasing its new master distiller, Chris Fletcher, as well as Old Forester Master Taster Jackie Zykan, a celebrity in her own right.
• In the “Mature This” presentation, Michter’s Andrea Wilson gets geeky about wood science as she drills down on how the barrel creates whiskey.
• St. George Master Distiller Lance Winters will be breaking down gin like a mad scientist
• ESPN’s Wright Thompson, author of the newly published Pappyland, will discuss the connection between bourbon and sports.
• Will Texas Soon Surpass Kentucky in Spirits? A group of Texas distillers and ESPN Houston host Kris Hart unpack this burning question. Other Expo personalities include Fred Minnick, Peggy Noe Stevens, Samara Davis, Blake Riber and Kenny Coleman who will be there to talk inside baseball on all-things bourbon.
