A slight increase in proof over its previous batch interjects a potent and enjoyable amount of rye spice against its tiramisu flavors.
Located in Nashville, Indiana, Hard Truth Distilling Co. offers a broad range of spirits from rum to newly released in-house distilled bourbons. Sweet Mash Rye Chocolate Malt is one of three whiskeys released as part of their annual limited edition series.
The more I drink Hard Truth whiskeys, the more I respect them. At just a little over two years old, their product oozes quality and originality. Made with 11% chocolate malted barley, its presence is apparent throughout its sip as tiramisu continues to be this whiskey’s hallmark flavor. An increase of 5 proof points over Batch 1 can be tasted immediately as everything that made Batch 1 great is amplified in just the right amounts. Rye spice in particular, has a much stronger presence this time out, contrasting the rye’s more dessert-like flavors. I can’t wait until this annual limited release gets a little more age on it to see how more oak changes this already enjoyable tasting rye.
